What is FTTP?

FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) is a full fibre broadband service that delivers high-speed internet directly to your premises using fibre optic cables, without any copper in the last mile.

What’s the difference between SOGEA and FTTP?

SOGEA uses a single broadband connection over the existing copper infrastructure, without needing a phone line. FTTP (Full Fibre to the Premises) delivers broadband over a dedicated fibre-optic cable directly to your building, offering higher speeds and better reliability.

Is Cerberus FTTP suitable for business use?

Yes. Cerberus FTTP is designed for business performance, with low latency, reliable throughput, and the option for static IP addresses to support VPNs, VoIP, and hosted services.

What speeds does FTTP offer?

Cerberus FTTP offers a range of download speeds from 40Mbps to 1Gbps, with upload speeds up to 220Mbps, depending on the package you choose and availability in your area.

Do I need a phone line for FTTP broadband?

No. FTTP is a Single Order service and does not require a traditional phone line. Voice services can be delivered over the connection using VoIP services such as MyCloud Voice One and MyCloud Voice Business.

What’s the difference between broadband and a leased line?

Broadband is a shared service, where bandwidth may fluctuate during busy times. A leased line is a dedicated, private connection with symmetrical speeds and guaranteed performance, ideal for critical business operations.

How long does installation take?

Installation times vary according to Openreach availability and whether any additional work is required to connect your premises to the network. FTTP is usually activated within around 15 working days.

Can I keep my existing static IP address?

If you’re switching from another provider and have a static IP address, we’ll work with you to manage the transition. Cerberus also offers static IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as standard with most of our business broadband packages.

Is support available if I have a problem?

Cerberus FTTP includes 24/7 technical support, enhanced availability monitoring and utilisation reporting via NetSTATS, and optional Enhanced Care SLAs for faster fault resolution.

In areas where full fibre isn't yet available, our SOGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) broadband offers a dependable, high-speed internet solution without the need for a traditional phone line. By eliminating the voice service component, SOGEA simplifies installation and reduces complexity, providing a streamlined connection ideal for modern businesses.

SOGFast is a high-speed, single order broadband service that delivers ultrafast performance over the existing copper network using G.fast technology. With download speeds of up to 330Mbps and upload speeds up to 50Mbps, SOGFast provides a cost-effective alternative to full fibre where FTTP is not yet available.

Cerberus Networks is one of the few UK ISPs that offers this service. Despite limited geographical availability, it offers fast and reliable Internet access using the existing copper line. For shorter line lengths, the service is a useful option.

This service is available in selected locations across the UK where G.fast has been deployed at the local cabinet. You can check availability at your premises using our online broadband checker or by contacting our team.
